Little River Band - Greatest Hits

This is a 1982 compilation CD, Little River Band - Greatest Hits.

Tracks are from LRB's period of 1975 to 1982.

This was a Capital release from EMI Records.

Little River Band were an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1975 and named after a road sign for the Victorian township of Little River, on the way to Geelong.

They were the first Australian rock group to enjoy sustained commercial success in the United States. During their career the band have sold more than 25 million records and scored 13 American Top 40 hits.

The band's original members were lead singer Glenn Shorrock, guitarists/vocalists Graeham Goble and Beeb Birtles, lead guitarist Ric Formosa, bassist Roger McLachlan and drummer Derek Pellicci.

In May 2001 the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), as part of its 75th Anniversary celebrations, named "Cool Change", written by Shorrock, as one of the Top 30 Australian songs of all time.

The 'classic line-up' of Birtles, Goble, Pellicci, Shorrock, guitarist David Briggs and bass guitarist George McArdle, were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards of 2004. (**source Wikipedia)

In my humble opinion this was the prime days of LRB. I used to see them live every other week and can still remember the tight harmonies of those many shows. I don't think I ever saw them on a bad night.

Tracks on this album are :-

It's A Long Way There
Help Is On Its Way
Reminiscing
Man On Your Mind
The Other Guy
The Night Owls
Lonesome Loser
Take It Easy On Me
Down On The Border
Happy Anniversary
Lady
Cool Change

Rick Price - Heaven Knows / Rarities

This is a long deleted rare double CD version of the acclaimed Heaven Knows album from Rick Price. The bonus CD in the set is called Rarities.

This was a 1992 Columbia release from Sony Music and was Rick's first album as a solo artist.

Price was born in Beaudesert, a small country town near Brisbane, Queensland.
He began playing music at the age of nine appearing with his family band "Union Beau". "It was kinda weird I guess. Up there with your Aunties and Uncles, brother and sister playing country music mixed with psychedelic rock covers!"

At eighteen Price escaped to Sydney and continued working as a musician, playing bass with various inner city outfits and landing the occasional bit of studio and touring work.
During the mid 80s Rick turned his focus more towards his singing. His distinctive vocals were soon in demand and in 1988 he was invited to sing "Celebration of a Nation", the theme song for Australia's Bicentennial. This opportunity helped lay the foundations for his solo career.

Price began writing his own material in the late 80s - "I started getting into my own writing and my own songs and "Not A Day Goes By" (with Pam Reswick and Steve Werfel) was pretty much the first one I came up with".
This single released in February 1992 received saturation radio and video play, climbing to number 5 on the national charts where it spent 20 weeks in the Australian top 100.

It was the beginning of a lifelong ambition for Price, in the space of less than 12 months, he went from relative obscurity to become one of the biggest names in Australian music.(** source Wikipedia)
