Rick Price - Tamborine Mountain

Tamborine Mountain was Australian singer / songwriter Rick Price's second album and was released in 1995.

It has long been deleted from catalogues and is now unavailable.

Rick already had three ARIA nominations and a score of Australian Music Awards under his belt.

The album achieved platinum sales status.

It was Rick's most experimental album and its content reflected an introspective view of his personal life.

With Tamborine Mountain Rick returned to his musical background of country / rhythm and blues but still maintained a commercial sound. The album featured strong melodies and arrangements.

In 2009 Rick relocated to the US.

I personally had just thought of Rick Price as a vocalist but after seeing some of the clips around of him I am totally blown away by his guitar work.

He has been touring as the support act for Tommy Emmanuel and also appearing as guest vocalist / guitarist in Tommy's own performances.

Below is an acoustic performance of Rick's hit single River Of Love by Tommy Emmanuel & Rick Price in a radio station studio in the US.

Rick Price - Heaven Knows / Rarities

This is a long deleted rare double CD version of the acclaimed Heaven Knows album from Rick Price. The bonus CD in the set is called Rarities.

This was a 1992 Columbia release from Sony Music and was Rick's first album as a solo artist.

Price was born in Beaudesert, a small country town near Brisbane, Queensland.
He began playing music at the age of nine appearing with his family band "Union Beau". "It was kinda weird I guess. Up there with your Aunties and Uncles, brother and sister playing country music mixed with psychedelic rock covers!"

At eighteen Price escaped to Sydney and continued working as a musician, playing bass with various inner city outfits and landing the occasional bit of studio and touring work.
During the mid 80s Rick turned his focus more towards his singing. His distinctive vocals were soon in demand and in 1988 he was invited to sing "Celebration of a Nation", the theme song for Australia's Bicentennial. This opportunity helped lay the foundations for his solo career.

Price began writing his own material in the late 80s - "I started getting into my own writing and my own songs and "Not A Day Goes By" (with Pam Reswick and Steve Werfel) was pretty much the first one I came up with".
This single released in February 1992 received saturation radio and video play, climbing to number 5 on the national charts where it spent 20 weeks in the Australian top 100.

It was the beginning of a lifelong ambition for Price, in the space of less than 12 months, he went from relative obscurity to become one of the biggest names in Australian music.(** source Wikipedia)

In 1992 Rick won the prestigious Song of the Year Award for Heaven Knows at the APRA (Australian Performing Rights Association) Awards.

Walk Away Renee

Fragile

The bonus CD, Rarities contains the tracks :-

Where Are You Now

Rick Price & Margaret Urlich - Where Is The Love (single)

My final selection for Australia Day 2010 is a duet from Rick Price and Margaret Urlich.

Rick Price has one of the most amazing voices in Australia. Add to that the wonderful NZ artist Margaret Urlich and you have one great combination for a single release.

Released on the Columbia label for Sony Music in Australia in 1993 and not really gaining any huge chart success, this will make an interesting addition to your collection.

Tracks on this single release are :-

Where Is The Love - Rick Price & Margaret Urlich

If You Were My Baby (Acoustic Version)- Rick Price
(from the Rick Price album, Heaven Knows / Rarities)

Love Train (Live Version) - Margaret Urlich
(from the Margaret Urlich album, Chameleon Dreams

This is an extremely RARE release.  Current value for this single second hand at Red Eye Records Sydney is  $120.

Artwork included / CD Rip / Bitrate 320k
